Interesting Stuff

Here are some of the things that make us tick. From the organisational to the technical and even the nerdy, we consider it important if it helps delivering excellence.

Olive Consulting is a member of the Geospatial Information and Technology Association or short GITA. GITA provides opportunities for education, networking and professional development for people and organisations in the geospatial industry. GITA members typically work with utilities, telecommunication providers, technology businesses and the public sector. GITA also has a presence in Australia and New Zealand. Smart Grid

Anyone having to do with electricity networks has probably heard about the Smart Grid by now. Olive Consulting is working on the integration of Smart Grid applications with the Outage Management System at Endeavour Energy. Smart Meters for example are part of the Smart Grid and the pros and cons of Smart Meters have been widely debated in the media. However there is a lot more to the Smart Grid than just Smart Meters. Below you can find an excellent introduction to the subject by Peter Batty. Peter Batty is a co-founder and CTO of the geospatial division at Ubisense. He has worked in the geospatial industry for over 25 years and has served as CTO for two leading companies in the industry (and two of the world's top 200 software companies), Intergraph and Smallworld. We can only recommend Peter's excellent blog geothought on all things geospatial.

Bootstrap

This web site has been created with Bootstrap. Too simple for you? It offers more than meets the eye at first. The bootstrap framework was initially developed by none other than the people who created Twitter. It's amazing what it can do with a download size of only 200KB. We like it because it's free, it's fast and clarity is paramount. Apart from that this web page displays neatly in all main browsers such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Opera. It also looks good on your tablet and even smaller on your smart phone. Something that cannot be said about every web page. Like it more fancy? Try the following
